Specialty Filter Bags

Pearl Filtration offer filter bags designed for specific applications. Our varied stock range includes:

  • Precise, absolute rated filter bags, ranging to 0.2 micron
  • Filter bags to reduce chlorine content in water
  • Extended-life filter bags, to reduce change-out frequencies
  • Stainless steel mesh filter bags, ideal for high temperature applications
  • Filter bags to reduce trace oil content in water
  • Filter bags to reduce water content in oily liquids

Specialty filter bags are primarily welded in construction, with polypropylene plastic collars.

Variations

Absolute rated filter bags, for precise filtration
AB Series: Fewer pre-filter layers to improve economy without hindering efficiency
APM Series: Multi-layered polypropylene construction reduces pressure drop and prolongs service life
AXP Series: Pleated bag, with 2.5 times more surface area than APM. Features improved dirt holding capacity and further prolongation of service lfe

Micron Ratings: 0.2, 0.5, 1, 3, 5

Each of our absolute rated filter bags features a removal efficiency of 95% – a significant improvement on standard filter bags. Absolute bags are ultrasonically welded in construction, and feature a polypropylene plastic collar.

Absolute rated filter bags are ideal when a filtration application requires a high degree of accuracy, or for sub-micron filtration.

Activated Carbon filter bags, for chlorine reduction
ACBX Series: Activated Carbon filter bags for chlorine reduction

Our activated carbon bags are constructed of a coconut shell based carbon, to reduce the chlorine content in potable water and improve its taste.

Due to their large filter surface area, activated carbon bags are often used in preference to cartridges when the application has a high flow rate.

Extended Life filter bag, to prolong filtration service life and reduce filter change-out frequency
PEX Series: Extended-life filter bag of polyester construction
PPX Series: Extended-life filter bag of polypropylene construction

Micron Ratings: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100

Extended-life filter bags feature dual filtration layers, which can improve service life by up to 18-30% (depending on the application). The pre-filtration layer is constructed of unsinged filter media, which allows the pores to remain unblocked and slows down the premature formation of filter cakes – thus extending the filter bag’s service life. The final layer then prevents fibre migration.

By reducing change-out frequencies, extended-life filter bags can offer significant economical benefits to the user.

Stainless steel filter bags, ideal for high temperature applications, or to clean and re-use
SSM Series: Stainless steel mesh bag constructed of SS304
STM Series: Stainless steel mesh bag constructed of SS316

Micron Ratings: 45, 75, 100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800
Max. Temperature: 150°C

Stainless steel filter bags are constructed with cotton thread, which ensures they are suitable for high temperature water applications.

The rigid stainless steel mesh enables the filter bag to be cleaned and re-used.

Oil Adsorbent filter bags, to reduce trace oil content in water
PPAB Series: Standard oil adsorbent filter bag, constructed of polypropylene microfibres
OAP Series: Pleated oil adsorbent filter bag. The pleated structure increases filter surface area by 250%, providing a greater oil adsorbing capacity

Oil adsorbent filter bags feature a specialised polypropylene microfibre media, designed to adsorb trace oil from water streams.

An oil adsorbent bag can reduce trace oil content by up to 23 times the bag’s dry weight. Adsorption effectiveness increases with longer contact time, meaning the bag is most effective at a low flow rate.

Water Absorbent filter bags, to reduce water content in oily liquids
SEM Series: Absorbs and retains water from oils and oily liquids

Our water absorbent filter bags are a unique bag constructed of cellulose fibres. To stabilise the filter, a polyester blend is mixed with the water absorbent media.

Water absorbent filter bags are effective at removing water from mineral oils and greases, including: hydraulic, lubrication and transformer oils.
